Don’t Refrigerate Your Bread
It may seem like the best place to keep bread, but your refrigerator actually makes it go stale faster.
For the best flavour and texture, store your sourdough at room temperature, cut side down on a wooden board or wrapped in a clean tea towel. This helps protect the crumb while keeping the crust crisp.
If your kitchen is consistently above 25°C, the refrigerator becomes a better option, as warm conditions can encourage the bread to spoil or develop unwanted sour flavours more quickly.
For longer storage, the freezer is still the best option. Sourdough freezes exceptionally well and can be revived in the oven, tasting remarkably close to freshly baked.
